00. The Bunker Beneath Soil.
Fingertips holding carefully forged pieces of machinery worked on a skeletal figure resting on a science lab's table. The rise and fall of a chest signals a living presence. An illusion. The form resting on the surface is J3R0M3. Otherwise known as Jeremy, the first cyborg to be manufactured. A buzz in the corner of Jeremy's one working bionic eye. A fizzle of blue sparks as the mechanics and engineers work on forming the creature's world. Everything these genii do, will be Jeremy's future, will be Jeremy's life.
Time passes and a skeleton is formed, everything in place, everything a human would need to survive. Only, this human is made of metal, and wires. Everything a cyborg would need to disguise itself as a normal person.
"Alright, Andrews, would you like to get the skin?" An engineer addressed another. The skin had been brought down from a morgue above the bunker beneath soil. Stolen from the labs of the humans above. Stitched together, to become a seamless suit of glacial skin, pure and pale.
With the mask attached, and life lines supplied, this man made life began to awaken. Engineers didn't know what to do, didn't know how to react..So they left, locking down the dome containing their work and their labour. Leaving it to the scientists to organise.
But, scientists playing God was never a good idea, for the being beneath them stirred to an extent that their plan backfired. Jeremy was left, to shut down in the darkness. Lights and creations no longer glowed, all except for he. Left alone, looking into the abyss, believing the darkness to be his life. To be his resting place. Though, in reality, dear Jeremy never really began his journey.
Years passed, technology updated, seasons changed and tides drew in and out. Until finally, a shaft of light broke through the looming darkness. Directly over Jeremy's heart.
"Hello?" An unfamiliar voice called? The first voice Jeremy had ever heard, rung through the bunker. Calling forth his dully glowing circuits to flash beneath his stolen flesh. All he could call in return was a failing beep, for no speech had been taught to the naked young 'human'. Clanking footsteps sounded as the voice approached.
