The Rebellion was formed when SMILE Institutes took over England. The Rebellion was anyone who wanted freedom. Anyone who wanted to choose if they wanted to smile. It was the insane, the sane, the adults, the children, the mothers, the fathers. Anyone.
Most of them had run from the SMILE Institute capturers. They became the outcasts. The oddities.
The things that needed to be erased.
SMILE Institutes started a war against the Rebellion. In reaction to that, the Rebellion built their underground tunnels. They stole. They built. They survived. Anyone who wanted to survive without fear lived with the Rebellion. People died, oh yes, but this is war.
Some built up whatever skills they already had. Some got new skills. Some remade their previous jobs. They had the areas that were needed, it was just a case of filling the holes. This happened. There were leaders, there were explosives experts, there were assassins. There were cooks, cleaners, doctors, nurses, nannies, anyone and everyone. Farmers could be used to drive. Teachers could be used to educate children in the Rebellion. They became almost completely self sufficient... Save for food...
The laboratories in another area built a weapon... That weapon was getting transported from the other area to this one. On the way, SMILE got hold of it. They stole the weapon, blew up the van, killing the driver and anyone who was supposed to protect the weapon. The Rebellions remained ignorant of this, believing it had been transported safely...
If only they knew...
