The sound of a locked door caving in after one well-aimed kick was the best sound in the world, to Laurie Sayers. She smiled a little, stepping into the darkneded back room of the abandoned store, hand gripping her laser gun, backpack slung over her shoulder. She didn't want to hang around, but she didn't want to rush herself and miss anything out - she needed food, one more day and she'd run out of tinned goods, which would mean that she'd have to beg food off of others. She didn't want to be a burden to others. Her steps made no noise as she ventured over to the front room of the shop, which was filled with asisles and asisles of dusty shelves. She spotted a few cans on the top shelf of the last aisle, and scowled at the can, she wasn't nearly tall enough to reach it. ''Stupid can...stupid shelf..'' she murmered, turning to sweep the other aisles - she found a magazine rack, it's contents sprawled across the floor. Her fingers picked through the blood-splattered remains of a TV Guide and numerous fashion magazine, before she spotted the brightly coloured cover of a superhero comic, her eyes lighting up. ''Score!'' she laughed, tucking the comic in the back pocket of her backpack with a grin, then turning to figure out how she could reach the can.
