Hello Group ...
I am brand new here and just wanted to say "hello." I'm taking my time typing out my character but she is in my head already.
So, I do have a question. I noticed that there is a ban on Rebel profiles. That's kind of why I joined--to use this character I've had floating around in my imagination--and so I am curious ... can a SMILE character defect? If this is not de rigueur or even permitted at all, I suppose I will make my character a citizen for now, with the intent to join the Rebellion when the ban is lifted ... assuming this is allowed. Ive read through the information, rules, and what-not and I think I've got a good grasp on things here. Please do let me know if my presumptions are false.
Thank you!

Nox :D Hello and welcome and it's lovely to see you here ^^ -Glomps-
Unfortunately I cannot answer your question, but one of the magical staff members doubtless will, so until then I shall just rejoice in your presence :)

Mel here, I'm sorry, but that can't be done. We've spoken and we don't want anymore citizens acting or wanting to be Rebels as it's not inkeeping with the member group. Acting out of member groups is considered rule breaking and we'd like it not to happen. Once there's a SMILE member and you're a month old, you can make a Rebel then.

A small matter, also, is that this is spoken about in the rules. It's the fourth rule of the Character's section. You claim to have read the rules, though, so this question would've already been answered.

Okay I have no problem waiting it out. After I've been here a little while I might make a SMILE character. For right now, it's a little too intimidating of a prospect. I'd like to "watch and learn" as it were. Until then I'll be active in other ways and advertise the RP here and there. Thank you Mel.
Fallen! I saw this forum advertised at Absolution and couldn't resist. It might be interesting to RP someone/thing who is human rather than supernatural creature ... or cat ... lol. Looking forward to some drama and action around these parts.

I did read the rules at about 2:00 AM, my time the day before I joined. I don't make excuses, though. I should have read them a second and third time. I am, however, obsessive-compulsive about double and triple checking and will probably continue to do so throughout my stay here. I always do, everywhere I frequent. Nobody's perfect, right?
In addition, that rule you've quoted is somewhat vague. It does not state that a character of one affiliation cannot switch loyalties, only that one should not "act" like what one is not when affiliated with a particular allegiance. Even if I'd read the rules 20 seconds before asking my question,, I still would not have known the answer. Maybe you should expand on that rule? Again, nobody is perfect.
